The Secret Visit

by

The Gardener and his wife had gone away for a few days and left the cats in charge of the cottage.

On their second evening by themselves (they’d raided the freezer for leftover ice cream on the first evening without their humans), the cats snuck Squirrel in through the back door while no one was looking.

It’s not that Squirrel wasn’t allowed inside the cottage, mind, but he’d brought the bulk of his yarn stash and, still wanting his hobby to remain a secret, he didn’t want anyone to see the knitting needles sticking out from the top of his backpack.
