The Cherry Trees

The whispered scuttlebutt among the bees was that it was “almost time.” They all knew what this meant, of course: that the showy cherry trees and delicate red maples in the woods were both nearly at peak bloom.

 

So they watched for the signs, payed attention to the weather, and made their plans. And on a cool, bright spring day, they all flew to the woods, where they joined their many relations and friends in a cherry- and maple-scented feast.
