Village Lights Bookstore

by

Whenever we travel, I’m always on the lookout for the coziest, most delightful independent bookstores. Here, I’m pleased to introduce you to one of our favorite indie bookstores in Madison, Indiana. (Find more of our favorite cozy, independent bookstores here.)

We’ve been to quaint, adorable Madison, just twice … once for an entire weekend, and once for little more than an hour. But on both visits, we’ve found lots of reasons to enjoy the delightful Village Lights Bookstore.

First, it’s right on Main Street, in a beautifully renovated storefront.

There are multiple rooms of new and used books on the main floor, a cozy meeting / reading room on the second floor with tons of window light, and a fantasy corner at the top of the stairs.

There’s a child-sized reading nook under the stairs.

And at the back of the shop’s main floor, the Twain Room is somehow both large and extraordinarily cozy, with floor-to-ceiling bookcases and a grand piano.

We’ll also send you a free PDF featuring 3 of our beloved Tiny Garden Stories. (No, they’re not stories about tiny gardens, they’re micro-fiction vignettes about the urban wildlife in my backyard woodland garden.)
