The Lemon Bars, part 3

by

Knowing there could be no lemon bars without lemons, Squirrel came up with a plan on the spot. Dashing out of Raccoon’s house, he went in search of Crow, whom he found easily enough, as she was snuggled in the upholstered chair at Rabbit’s tea shop, taking a nap.

She was wide awake, however, by the time Squirrel finished his whispered request, and she promised to take care of it.

Stopping first at her nest for a string bag, Crow flew away, returning a short time later from the humans’ nearby grocery, with her bag stuffed full of purloined lemons.
