The Iced Teas

by

It was so hot in the garden that Rabbit had set aside her teapots and mugs, her candles and warming trivets.

The icebox was filled with trays of ice cubes and seven pitchers of iced tea she had prepared the night before. There were two pitchers each of refreshingly minty green tea, Scottish Breakfast, and Earl Grey … and one of Rabbit’s own blends, full of fragrant herbs and flowers.

When she turned the “closed” sign to “open,” several squirrels and chipmunks were already at the door, waiting to come inside, where they could read books and sip icy-cold tea.
