The Care Package
When he delivered Rabbit’s mail that evening, Squirrel also brought the unexpected news that a human was sleeping in the meadow. Given the telltale box of tissues — and the fact that the Gardener’s wife was both wrapped in a blanket and napping in the sun on a warm day — everyone reasoned that she must not be feeling well.
Rabbit enlisted Squirrel’s help in putting together a care package, and then they tiptoed to the meadow and quietly set everything beside the box of tissues: a thermos of tea, another thermos of hot soup, and a small jar of lemon drops.
