The Brisk Day
Rabbit got up early and, feeling invigorated by the crisp, bright morning, decided to close the tea shop and tackle her spring cleaning.
After breakfast, she opened the windows and the door to air out her burrow, and then she washed all the teapots and storage jars, dusted the bookshelf, took the rugs outside to give them a beating, swept the floor, and scrubbed the giant worktable.
By the time she’d finished, it was late afternoon. Rabbit stood by her open door and heard the songs of a few early crickets, calling her to come outside and admire the evening.
