The Bench, part 3
The day after Old Possum and Crow (and Mouse) discovered the new bench in the woods, they spread the word throughout the garden and the woods.
By the end of the second day, Squirrel, his aunt and uncle, and his cousins had carried loaves of fresh bread and several kinds of cheese to the bench for a late-morning picnic; Mama Chipmunk’s grandchildren and Mouse’s children had all built a stick fort underneath the bench (and feasted on leftover cheese); and Rabbit and Raccoon had ventured over to soak up a bit of late-afternoon sun and the scent of crabapple blossoms.
