The Pasta Party, part 2

On the day of the dinner party, Mama Chipmunk and Raccoon spent a cozy midday in the kitchen, drinking coffee, snacking on lemon cake, and making squash-and-walnut ravioli. A batch of pesto made with Raccoon’s purloined basil was already cooling in the fridge.

 

Later that evening, for the party, Rabbit brought a jar of pickled olives from her pantry; Squirrel brought a block of Parmesan cheese he had found, wrapped in wax paper; and Old Possum arrived carrying an ancient bottle of tawny port, for afterwards.
