The Inside Kitten, part 2

by

Even though he preferred being inside, Max would come running to sit on the window seat — where he could watch and sniff through the screen — anytime the weather was nice enough for the Gardener, or his wife, to open the windows overlooking the garden.

From his cushioned perch, Max would meow “Good Morning!” to the bumblebees and the birds.

And some days, because Little Max hadn’t yet learned to read, one of the chipmunk children would bring a book outside, sit on the wall near the open window, and read a story out loud.
