The Intense Rainstorm, part 2

by

Rain and wind lashing their tree nests, Raccoon and Squirrel decided to shelter at Old Possum’s house instead.

They happened to arrive at the same time and, when they knocked, Mama Chipmunk answered the door. (During a lessening of the rain, she and her grandchildren had dashed from their house to Possum’s, carrying a basket of cookies.)

Squirrel and Raccoon blew inside on a gust of wind and found Possum’s snug house full of music and laughter. Crow and some of the smaller birds were there too, perched on the dining table, surreptitiously snacking on crumbs left over from lunch.
